Asics, derived from the Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” (Healthy soul in a healthy body), is a Japanese brand known for athletic footwear, apparel, and equipment. Founded in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka in Kobe, Japan, the company initially focused on basketball shoes. Renamed Asics Corporation in 1977, it expanded into running footwear with innovative technologies like GEL cushioning.
